Every long-lived workbook has rules in it that are not written down anywhere: this column is never blank, that code has to exist in the other sheet, these two totals have to agree. This prototype writes them down and runs them.

What is in it.

  • A validation pass over an uploaded workbook, rule by rule, against a rule set held outside the workbook
  • Failures reported per row and per rule, with the cell that caused them, rather than one message saying the import failed
  • A simulated marketplace upload as the worked example, because a rejected upload is where a broken workbook usually announces itself

Why there is no link.

It was built with an open sign-up and data from the prospect's own domain in it, and the rights to that engagement are shared with a partner. It gets rebuilt on fictional data before anything from it is published.
