Accessibility Statement
We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, need higher contrast, or prefer reduced motion. This page sets out what we have done and what still needs work.
Qelv aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That is a target rather than a certification: we have not commissioned a formal third-party audit.
What is built in
- Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element is reachable by keyboard, and a visible focus outline follows the cursor. A “skip to main content” link is the first stop on every page.
- Minimal motion. The only animations are short hover and theme-change transitions, and a subtle once-only fade as some sections enter the viewport. The fade carries no information, never runs when your system asks for reduced motion, and all content renders in its final state without JavaScript. There is no parallax, no scroll-linked effect, and no animated counter.
- Increased contrast. The palette is designed to meet WCAG AA contrast in both themes; if your system requests more contrast, decorative shadows are removed as well.
- Light and dark themes. The theme follows your system preference and can be overridden with the toggle in the header. Both themes are designed to hold their contrast ratios.
- Structure and semantics. Pages use real headings, lists, tables, and landmark regions, so screen reader navigation reflects the visible structure. Decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- Forms. Every field has a persistent visible label bound to its input, and errors are reported in text rather than by colour alone.
Known limitations
- Wide tables on the Services and Work pages scroll horizontally on small screens, inside their own scroll region rather than the page body.
- The contact form posts to this site’s own endpoint and is delivered by our email provider. We control the markup and labelling, but their processing of the submission is outside our direct control.
- We have not yet completed testing across the full range of screen reader and browser combinations.
